Iron Bridge Road bridge in Hunterdon County ‘closed indefinitely’ after dump truck crash

BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The bridge on Iron Bridge Road will be closed indefinitely due to damage caused from a dump truck crash Monday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Detective Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened on Oct. 30, at around 10:42 a.m., on Iron Bridge Rd. in Bethlehem Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a dump truck ran off the roadway and overturned, Lebron said.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said.

“As a result of the accident, the bridge on Iron Bridge Rd. sustained structural damage and will remain closed until repairs are completed,” Lebron said.

“The bridge on Iron Bridge Road will be closed indefinitely. I was on scene most of the day and viewed the damage with NJ Transit representatives. We await official confirmation but the bridge has sustained significant damage that will likely require full replacement of the bridge,” Bethlehem Township Mayor Paul J. Muir said in a Facebook past.
