Juvenile charged after alleged knife threat at Morris County restaurant, police say

MOUNTAIN LAKES BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged after allegedly threatening a former restaurant employee with a knife last month in Mountain Lakes Borough, according to police.

Police said the incident was reported on Feb. 14, 2026, when a former employee contacted headquarters to report an encounter that allegedly occurred Feb. 12 at a restaurant in Mountain Lakes.

According to authorities, the victim told police that at approximately 9:50 p.m. that night, a juvenile employee threatened them with a knife.

Following an investigation, the 17-year-old juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and terroristic threats, police said.

The juvenile was released to a guardian pending proceedings in Morris County Family Court, according to police.
