Kean, Moskowitz introduce resolution condemning Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) and Jared Moskowitz (FL-23) Monday introduced H.Res 1143, condemning Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel with 29 other Republican and Democrat members of the House of Representatives, including House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul (TX-10).
The resolution also reaffirms the House of Representatives’ support for Israel’s right to self-defense, supports Israel’s right to respond to this aggression through means it deems necessary, and calls on all countries to condemn Iran’s attack.
On April 13, Iran launched a direct attack on Israel that included over 350 missiles and drones launched directly from Iran and its proxies towards Israel. This marks the first attack on Israeli territory launched directly from Iranian territory.
“48 hours ago, the world watched in horror as Iran launched over 350 drones and missiles to Israel,” Kean said. “These aggressive actions only escalate tensions and endanger innocent lives. I strongly condemn Iran’s unprecedented attacks on Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East, and the House of Representatives stands ready to assist Israel with emergency resupply and other security, diplomatic and intelligence support.”
“What the world witnessed this weekend was a Declaration of War by the Iranian regime against an American ally,” Moskowitz said. “Seeing missiles being intercepted right above the Temple Mount emphasizes Iran’s disregard for Muslim, Jewish, and Christian holy sites and innocent civilian life. America must make it clear through this resolution that this escalatory and disproportional attack is intolerable and that we stand with Israel against state sponsors of terrorism like Iran.”
Congressman Kean currently serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is the Chairman of the Europe Subcommittee.
