Lane, width restrictions in effect at New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge between New Jersey and Pennsylvania

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge on Route 202 is currently limited to single-lane travel in each direction, with vehicle width restrictions in place due to ongoing construction, officials announced.

According to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, the bridge is restricted to vehicles no wider than 10 feet southbound (toward Pennsylvania) and 11 feet northbound (toward New Jersey). The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

The changes are part of a major infrastructure project to replace the bridge’s former toll plaza with an open-road, cashless all-electronic tolling gantry. The new system will enable vehicles to pass through without stopping, using E-ZPass or license plate recognition for toll collection.

In addition to the gantry installation, the work includes repairs and improvements to the bridge’s Pennsylvania abutment.

Motorists approaching the bridge are urged to slow down, watch for lane shifts, adhere to posted width limits, and use caution in the work zone.

The commission has not yet announced a completion date for the project.
