Man accused of shoplifting from Morris County Target using mobility scooter
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 52-year-old Belvidere man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempting to shoplift from the Target store in Washington Township while using a motorized mobility scooter to conceal merchandise, authorities said.
According to police, officers responded to the store around 3:30 p.m. for a reported shoplifting incident in progress. Upon arrival, store employees directed officers to the suspect, who was operating the scooter inside the store.
A brief investigation determined that the man had hidden several items within the scooter and attempted to leave the store without paying, police said.
