Man accused of using fake identity to buy $81K vehicle in Morris County

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A New York man was jailed on charges he used another person’s identity to buy a vehicle that cost more than $81,000.

On June 30, an officer responded to the Lexus dealership on Route 10 in Hanover Township for a fraud investigation, police said.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a manager who stated an individual had purchased a vehicle using someone else’s information, police said.

A brief police investigation revealed that Xiao T Si, 36, of Bayside allegedly stole the identity of another individual and purchased the $81,913.00 vehicle using that identification, police said.

When Si responded to the dealership to retrieve the vehicle, he was arrested and charged with knowingly exhibiting false ID, theft of credit cards, criminal attempt, forgery, wrongful impersonation, execution of documents by fraud and hindering.

SI was then lodged in the Morris County Jail pending a court apperneace.
