
Man arrested for possession of meth in Hunterdon County
HIGH BRIDGE BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Hunterdon County man has been arrested for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson.
A joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the High Bridge Police Department led to the arrest of Gary Hancart, 32, of High Bridge Borough on February 11 on charges related to controlled dangerous substances (CDS). The arrest followed an investigation by the agencies, which began in late December 2024, Robeson said.
Investigators arrested Hancart without incident and charged him with second-degree possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, two counts of third-degree possession of CDS, and one count of fourth-degree intent to distribute CDS paraphernalia, Robeson said.
Hancart was released onto pretrial monitoring pending the disposition of his case. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-indictment hearing on March 25 in Hunterdon County Superior Court, Robeson said.
Second-degree charges may result in criminal penalties, including but not limited to, a term of imprisonment between five and ten years and a fine of up to $150,000. Third-degree charges may result in criminal penalties, including but not limited to, a term of imprisonment between three and five years and a fine not to exceed $15,000. Fourth-degree charges may result in criminal penalties, including but not limited to, a term of imprisonment up to eighteen months and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
