Man arrested in Sussex County on warrant, possession of toxic inhalant

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Hardyston man was arrested during a July 10 traffic stop in Franklin Borough after police said he was found with a toxic inhalant and had an outstanding warrant.

Police said Nicholas G. Sacerdote, 20, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Munsonhurst Road. During the stop, officers determined Sacerdote had an outstanding limited extradition warrant issued by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office covering the tri-state area.

While executing the arrest, police said they discovered Sacerdote was in possession of suspected liquid nitrite, a toxic chemical inhalant sometimes used to induce euphoria.

Sacerdote was issued a criminal complaint summons charging him with possession of a toxic chemical, a disorderly persons offense. He was turned over to the Morris County Sheriff’s Department pending a future court appearance in Morris County Superior Court, in accordance with the state’s bail reform law.
