Man charged after resisting arrest during Morris County traffic stop

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 39-year-old man from Yonkers, New York, was charged with resisting arrest following a traffic stop on Route 46 in Mount Olive Township, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 3:39 p.m. on July 15, when a township officer observed a GMC pickup truck towing a trailer with multiple non-functioning brake lights. A traffic stop was conducted near Church Street.

Police said the driver, identified as Khari Coleman, was found to have a suspended license and an active arrest warrant for $750 out of Elizabeth. When the officer attempted to take Coleman into custody, he allegedly resisted commands, leading to a brief struggle before being placed under arrest.

Coleman was taken to police headquarters, charged with resisting arrest, and released on his own recognizance regarding the outstanding warrant. He was later released pending a court appearance.
