Man charged after trying to use fake $100 at Morris County business

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) -A New York man has been charged for allegedly trying to use fake currency and then eluding police in Denville Township.

On July 3, police responded to a local business on Broadway for a report of a person attempting to make a purchase with a fraudulent $100 bill, police said.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect, who was later identified as Marquis Fleming, 31, of Brooklyn fled from officers, police said.

After a brief foot chase, the officers were able to apprehend and place Fleming into custody. During a search incident to arrest, sixteen fraudulent $100 bills were found on Fleming, police said.

Fleming was charged with eluding, uttering a forged document, and driving while suspended. He was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
