Man charged in Somerset County child sex assault investigation, prosecutor says

MANVILLE BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — A Somerville man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of sexual assault by sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a minor, authorities said.

Prosecutor McDonald stated that in April of 2025, Manville Police Department contacted the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit regarding an allegation that an adult male showed a 12-year-old female pornographic images on his cellular telephone and masturbated in front of her. The 12-year-old female victim, a Manville resident, was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center by detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit.

Authorities said the girl reported that Isaias Vielma-Hernandez, 38, of Somerville, showed her pornographic images and videos on his cellphone and, on one occasion, masturbated in front of her. She said the incidents occurred from January 2025 through April 2025.

McDonald said a Superior Court search warrant was executed April 17, 2025, at Vielma-Hernandez’s Somerville residence, where his cellphone was seized.

On Jan. 9, 2026, Vielma-Hernandez was arrested without incident in Bedminster Township, authorities said. He was taken to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and charged with second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree obscenity, officials said. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail and later released pending a court date, authorities said.
