
Man charged with assault by auto after hit-and-run crash in Morris County
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man is facing several charges following a hit-and-run crash Thursday night in Denville Township, according to police.
On April 24, at approximately 10:54 p.m., police responded to Route 10, just east of Franklin Road, for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries, authorities said.
It was further reported that the vehicle responsible for the crash had fled the scene. However, Denville police were able to obtain a description of the fleeing vehicle, police said.
A short time later, the Morris Township Police Department located the vehicle. Through investigative efforts, the driver — later identified as Maynor A. Vasquez-Cabrera, 31, of Morristown — was allegedly determined to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to police.
Vasquez-Cabrera was arrested and charged with assault by auto, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, and failure to report an accident. He was released pending a court appearance.
