Man charged with DWI after hitting parked car in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a parked car on Saturday night in Mount Olive Township, according to police.

On October 26, at approximately 9:24 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a minor traffic accident at the Hensyn Village Apartment complex. Upon arrival, the officer learned that a male driver, later identified as Ross Newman, 45, of Budd Lake, had struck a parked vehicle before leaving his Ford Fusion and entering an apartment, police said.

Shortly thereafter, Newman exited the apartment and approached the officer. During their conversation, the officer allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol and noted signs of impairment, according to police.

Newman was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which led to his arrest for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
