Man dies from injuries days after car strikes tree in Sussex County
HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — An 81-year-old Newton man died from injuries days after a single-vehicle crash in Sussex County, according to New Jersey State Police.
The crash occurred on April 14 at about 11:56 a.m. on County Route 626 east near milepost 0.3 in Hampton Township, NJSP spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.
A preliminary investigation found Thomas S. Valleau was driving a Hyundai eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree, Postorino said.
Valleau sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died on April 17, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
