Massage business owner in Morris County accused of promoting prostitution, money laundering
ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The owner of a massage business in Roxbury Township has been arrested and charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Mathew Holland.
Bumsuk Lee, 67, of Flushing, New York, is alleged to be the owner of New Paradise Spa, located at 967 Route 46 in the Kenvil section of the township. Authorities say Lee operated an illicit massage business and accepted proceeds from sex acts performed by employees at the establishment.
On July 24, Roxbury police, along with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, executed search warrants at both the spa and Lee’s residence in Flushing. Investigators reportedly recovered evidence indicative of prostitution activity and seized a large amount of U.S. currency.
As a result, Lee was charged by warrant complaint with second-degree money laundering and third-degree promoting prostitution. He is currently being held at Rikers Island by the New York Police Department and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
Sujin “Rose” Huh, 43, was also charged in the investigation with engaging in prostitution, a disorderly persons offense.
The investigation involved coordination with multiple agencies, including the Roxbury Township Police Department, NYPD Queens Vice Unit, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
