Merrill Creek Reservoir to host viewing of Donald Troxell Native American artifact collection
HARMONY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Residents are invited to explore local history later this month during a public presentation and viewing of the Donald Troxell Native American Artifact Collection.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Merrill Creek Reservoir Visitor Center, will feature artifacts discovered throughout Warren County by lifelong resident and amateur archaeologist Donald Troxell.
Organizers said the collection includes a variety of items such as stone tools, arrowheads, effigies and points, offering a glimpse into the lives of the region’s earliest inhabitants.
Troxell spent decades walking local fields and riverbanks, uncovering artifacts and preserving pieces of the area’s history. The collection reflects what organizers described as a lifelong commitment to documenting and respecting the land’s past.
Attendees will have the opportunity to view the artifacts and speak directly with Troxell, who will be available to answer questions and discuss his discoveries.
The event will be held at the Merrill Creek Reservoir Visitor Center, located at 34 Merrill Creek Road in Harmony Township. Organizers said the presentation offers a chance for the community to connect with local history through the work of a longtime resident.
