Missing 15-year-old Morris County girl found safe

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 15-year-old girl who went missing in Morris Township last month was found safe Tuesday evening, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Shoshana Acevedo was last seen on Hanover Avenue in Morris Township on July 27 at 11:00 p.m., Carroll said.

Acevedo was located unharmed Tuesday evening, Carroll said. Following up on a lead, law enforcement were able to determine the missing teenager was on an interstate train headed south. She was located on a train in North Carolina where officers took her into protective custody, Carroll said.

“Given that the missing persons case involves a juvenile, law enforcement is unable to provide further details about the investigation,” Carroll said.

She had no cell phone and an initial search utilizing MCSO K-9’s and a drone was unsuccessful, Carroll said.
