Morris County man among 3 arrested for drug distribution

BLOOMINGDALE BOROUGH, NJ (Passaic County) – Police have arrested three men for alleged drug distribution in Bloomingdale Borough.

Over the past several months, police launched an investigation in regard to the illegal sales of narcotics throughout Bloomindale Borough from the Thrifty Hippy Consignment, located at 55 Main Street, according to Bloomingdale Police Chief Daniel Greenwood.

Members of the Bloomingdale Police Department executed several search warrants on Aug. 28 for businesses, storage units, and vehicles in Bloomingdale Borough, Newton, and Wayne Township, Greenwood said.

Police seized approximately 18 pounds of marijuana, 1.13 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, four motor vehicles, and cash, Greenwood said.

This investigation ultimately led to the successful apprehension of three suspects identified as Jesse A. Baron, 43, and Daniel F. Valerio, 39, both of Bloomingdale and Ryan T. Smith, 36, of Butler, Greenwood said.

Baron and Smith were each charged with distribution of unregulated marijuana, conspiracy to commit distribution of marijuana of 5lbs or more, distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, conspiracy to commit distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of marijuana over 5lbs.

Valerio was charged with distribution of unregulated marijuana, conspiracy to commit distribution of marijuana of 5lbs or more, distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, conspiracy to commit distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of marijuana over 5lbs and possession of cocaine.

Agencies that assisted the Bloomingdale Police Department in the execution of these search warrants include the West Milford Police Department, Pompton Lakes Police Department, Wayne Police Department, Wanaque Police Department, Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Sussex County Prosecutors Narcotics Task Force.
