Morris County man charged with theft for allegedly stealing backhoe
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been charged for allegedly stealing a backhoe in Mount Olive Township.
On Aug. 13, at 4:50 p.m., police responded to the Parkade Mall, located at 7 Naughright Road, for a report of a stolen backhoe, police said.
AAA Red, White, and Blue Excavation, the maintenance company, reported that a John Deere backhoe was missing from the parking lot adjacent to Retro Fitness, where the company stores equipment. The victim advised that the theft had been caught on camera, and footage had been posted to social media, police said.
Through the course of the police investigation, a male identified as Robert Hodulich, 36, of Mendham, was determined to have committed the theft, police said.
On Sept. 25, police located Hodulich at a property in Washington Township, Morris County. With the assistance of the Washington Twp. Detective Bureau, officers made contact with him and he was then arrested, police said.
Hodulich was charged with theft of movable property and theft of a motor vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
The backhoe was located and returned to the owner, police said.
