Morris County man killed after SUV strikes rear of parked tractor-trailer on I-287

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — A Wharton Borough man was killed early Sunday in a crash on Interstate 287 in Morris County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at 4:18 a.m. on the northbound side of I-287 near milepost 35.8 in Morristown.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Attem Petiukh, 37, was driving a Honda SUV northbound when, while negotiating a left curve, the vehicle struck the rear of a Volvo tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder, police said.

Petiukh sustained fatal injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
