Morris County Sheriff’s Office unions unite for Movember fundraiser, holiday toy drive
MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Several unions representing members of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office again joined forces this year for their annual No Shave November and December fundraiser, known as “Movember,” along with the Sgt. Tim Abline Memorial Holiday Toy Drive.
Participating unions included the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections PBA Local 298, PBA Local 298 SOA, Bureau of Law Enforcement PBA Local 151 and FOP Lodge 137. With approval from the Sheriff’s Office administration, participating members were permitted to grow facial hair in exchange for charitable donations.
Funds raised through the annual effort are traditionally directed toward individuals or families in the community facing extraordinary hardship. In past years, the initiative has supported families dealing with serious medical conditions, unexpected tragedies and other circumstances that created significant emotional and financial strain.
This year, the unions unanimously voted to direct the Movember proceeds to Corporal Matthew Dunbar, a more than 20-year veteran of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office who is currently facing serious health challenges. Additional donations were also contributed by Morristown PBA Local 43 and the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey.
In addition to the fundraiser, the unions continued the Sgt. Tim Abline Memorial Holiday Toy Drive, held annually in memory of the late sergeant. The toy drive honors Abline’s legacy of service and generosity, particularly his commitment to helping children and families during the holiday season.
The unions again partnered with local nonprofit organizations Halos for Angels and Table of Hope to distribute new, unwrapped toys to families throughout Morris County. Gift cards were also donated to six families sponsored through Halos for Angels to provide additional assistance during the holidays.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, union representatives formally presented monetary donations, toys and gift cards to Dunbar’s family and to their charitable partners.
Union leaders expressed appreciation to Sheriff James M. Gannon and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office administration for their continued support, as well as to Halos for Angels and Table of Hope for their partnership. They also thanked union members and community supporters whose generosity made the annual initiative possible.
Organizers said the effort reflects the Sheriff’s Office unions’ ongoing commitment to service, compassion and community support while honoring the memory of Sgt. Tim Abline.
