Morris County Surrogate Heather Darling elected to CIANJ board
MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County Surrogate Heather J. Darling has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, a business advocacy organization focused on promoting economic growth and free enterprise.
Darling, an attorney and elected official serving her second term as surrogate, said she looks forward to contributing her experience in business, government and law to the organization.
“I am honored to join the Board of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. I look forward to utilizing my knowledge and experience as a small business owner, elected official, and attorney to represent and further the interest of New Jersey businesses, the lifeblood of our economy” said Surrogate Darling.
Founded in 1927, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey is a network of businesses that advocates for policies supporting economic development across the state.
Darling has been a longtime supporter of New Jersey businesses and has hosted discussions on business and public policy through her television program, “Have You Heard with Heather Darling.”
Before entering public office, Darling worked as a financial consultant and later joined her family’s real estate business. She also founded The Darling Law Firm, LLC, in 2004.
She was elected to the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2017 and later became deputy director. In 2019, she was elected Morris County surrogate and took office in 2020, where she implemented modernization efforts including electronic filing.
Darling holds a degree in finance and international business from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a law degree from Seton Hall University.
In addition to her new role with CIANJ, Darling serves on the executive board of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey and the Employment Horizons Community Advisory Board.
Officials said Darling will bring a combination of legal, business and government experience to the association as it continues its work supporting New Jersey’s business community.
