Morris County surrogate hosts annual breakfast with local attorneys

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County Surrogate Heather J. Darling recently hosted her annual “Breakfast and Conversation” event, bringing together attorneys from across the region to discuss court procedures, share feedback and strengthen communication with the Surrogate’s Court.

The gathering, held at the Surrogate’s Court office in Morristown, welcomed attorneys who regularly handle probate, estate administration, wills and guardianship matters.

According to Darling’s office, the annual event provides an informal setting for members of the legal community to meet directly with the surrogate and her staff outside of routine court filings and appointments.

Attorneys were encouraged to ask questions, discuss their experiences working with the office and offer suggestions for improving services provided to legal professionals and their clients.

The breakfast also gave attendees an opportunity to meet the court employees responsible for processing probate applications, guardianship filings and other related paperwork.

“Getting acquainted in person strengthens the working relationship between the court and the bar. That benefits the families who are navigating what are often very difficult legal matters” said Surrogate Darling.

The initiative is intended to maintain open communication between the Surrogate’s Court and attorneys who assist individuals and families with estate and guardianship matters.
