Mosquito spraying scheduled Friday in 2 Morris County towns

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — Mosquito control crews are scheduled to spray parts of Hanover Township and Chester Borough early Friday, Sept. 12, in response to an increase in adult mosquito populations, officials said.

Weather permitting, the treatment will take place from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. using all-terrain vehicles in wooded areas and surrounding properties.

In Hanover Township, spraying will occur near Reynolds Avenue at Bee Meadow Park. In Chester Borough, crews will target the area around West Main Street at Chubb Park.

Officials said the applications will use either Anvil 2+2, which contains the active ingredient Sumithrin (EPA #1021-1687-8329), or Zenivex E4, which contains Etofenprox (EPA #2724-807). Both products are approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for mosquito control.
