Motorcyclist dies in Route 23 crash in Sussex County

MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Pennsylvania man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 23 in Sussex County, authorities said.

Troopers responded to the scene around 6:50 p.m. Saturday near milepost 49 on Route 23 south in Montague Township, according to Sgt. Charles Marchan, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

A preliminary investigation found that Clayton Woodley, 20, of Milford, Pa., was riding a Yamaha motorcycle southbound when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a rock. The motorcycle overturned, ejecting Woodley and causing fatal injuries, Marchan said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further details were immediately available.
