Motorcyclist seriously injured in Hunterdon County crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A 41-year-old man was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Lebanon Stanton Road/Route 629, according to Clinton Township police.

Officers responded around 4:07 p.m. after the motorcyclist, traveling northbound, failed to negotiate a left curve, police said. The motorcycle struck the guardrail on the northbound shoulder, re-entered the roadway, and continued about 250 feet before striking the guardrail again.

The rider suffered significant injuries to his lower extremities and a laceration to his arm. He was flown by NorthStar medical helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset for treatment.

The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. A witness traveling southbound reported the motorcycle appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton Township Police Department.
