Mount Olive completes PFOA/PFOS filtration system installation in Pinecrest Water System

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Mount Olive Township has successfully completed the installation of a new filtration treatment system designed to remove PFOA/PFOS from the Pinecrest Water System’s drinking water, according to Mount Olive Township Andrew Tatarenko.

The system was placed into service on Thursday, Oct. 31, Tatarenko said.

In accordance with the NJDEP permit, water samples will be collected over the next three months to ensure the water meets the required standards for PFOA/PFOS levels. Once the Running Annual Average (RAA) is below the maximum contaminant level (MCL) thresholds, the NJDEP Notice of Violation will be lifted, Tatarenko said.

“A final public notification will be issued once the water quality is confirmed to be in full compliance,” Tatarenko said. “The Township is committed to ensuring clean and safe drinking water for all residents and appreciates the community’s patience and support during this process.”
