New Jersey prosecutors association offers five scholarships for law students, law enforcement officers
NEW JERSEY — The County Prosecutor’s Association of New Jersey Foundation is accepting applications for five scholarships designed to support law students, graduate students and law enforcement officers pursuing higher education.
The organization announced that each scholarship is a one-year grant worth $3,500 and is paid directly to the recipient. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply.
The scholarships include the Oscar W. Rittenhouse Memorial Scholarship, the Andrew K. Ruotolo Jr. Memorial Scholarship, the Harris Y. Cotton Memorial Scholarship, the John H. Stamler Memorial Scholarship and the Avon Thomas Morgan III Memorial Scholarship.
Several of the scholarships are available to New Jersey residents who have been accepted to law school and are interested in careers as prosecutors. Other awards are geared toward students committed to child advocacy, prospective prosecutors interested in domestic violence and hate crime prosecutions, and sworn law enforcement officers seeking educational advancement.
The Avon Thomas Morgan III Memorial Scholarship is available to New Jersey residents accepted to law school who are members of underrepresented groups and are interested in pursuing careers as prosecutors.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need to be eligible for the scholarships.
The application deadline is July 17. Recipients are expected to be notified of the committee’s decisions in August.
