TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Sire Stakes Board has announced changes to its 2027 program that will increase Silver Series purses while keeping entry and nomination fees unchanged from 2026.
Under the changes, Silver Series elimination purses will increase 50%, from $10,000 to $15,000 per elimination.
The number of Silver Series eliminations will remain at three for 2-year-old horses and two for 3-year-old horses.
Silver Series final purses will increase from $40,000 to $50,000 for fields of eight or more.
The Platinum Series will remain unchanged, with $25,000 elimination purses and $225,000 finals for fields of eight or more.
Entry and nomination fees will also remain unchanged from 2026.
New Jersey-sired horses will also be eligible to receive a 20% bonus for winning certain stakes races at the Meadowlands through an incentive offered by the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey and the Meadowlands.
The New Jersey Sire Stakes Board said the changes are intended to provide additional value to owners, trainers and breeders while supporting the state’s horse-racing industry.
“These enhancements reflect our commitment to strengthening New Jersey’s breeding and racing programs while creating meaningful opportunities for participants,” said Nancy Grbelja, New Jersey Sire Stakes Chairwoman. “By increasing Silver Series purses without raising fees, we are delivering more value and supporting the long-term vitality of the industry.”
The New Jersey Sire Stakes program supports the breeding and racing of New Jersey-sired horses through competitive opportunities and incentives.
Complete eligibility requirements, race conditions, nomination information and the 2027 schedule will be available through the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Sire Stakes program.
