New York man charged with shoplifting more than $1,100 from CVS in Warren County

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — A New York man was arrested Wednesday after police said he stole more than $1,100 worth of merchandise from a CVS in Hackettstown.

At about 12:49 p.m. on Sept. 17, an officer saw a man running across Main Street carrying a bag while a CVS employee followed, telling him to stop, according to police. The suspect, later identified as Robert M. Alphont, 42, of New York, N.Y., dropped the bag when he saw the police vehicle but continued walking away.

The officer stopped Alphont and determined the bag contained stolen items valued at $1,143.53, police said.

Alphont was charged with shoplifting and lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
