NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit has been named one of New Jersey’s best employers by Forbes for the eighth consecutive year, the agency announced Thursday.
NJ Transit was included on Forbes’ “America’s Best-in-State Employers 2026” list, ranking first in New Jersey in the transportation and logistics category for the fourth consecutive year.
The agency ranked 71st among 90 New Jersey employers included on this year’s list.
“For eight straight years, our employees have told Forbes that NJ TRANSIT is a place they would recommend to their own friends and family, and there is no higher compliment an employer can receive,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “That culture was on full display this summer, when our team moved more than 370,000 customers during the FIFA World Cup with the skill and enthusiasm that define this organization.”
The recognition follows NJ Transit being named by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers in 2024 and 2025. The agency also received the American Public Transportation Association’s 2023 Outstanding Public Transportation System award among the largest transportation systems in North America.
Forbes developed its eighth annual Best-in-State Employers list in partnership with market research firm Statista.
More than 245,000 full- and part-time employees at companies with at least 500 workers across the United States were anonymously surveyed, according to NJ Transit. No more than 100 employers are recognized in each state.
The rankings also considered survey data from the previous four years to distinguish employers that consistently performed well.
Employers were evaluated based on workers’ willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family and recommendations from employees’ friends and family members or people working in the same industry.
