NJSP Somerville Station welcomes ‘Norman’ the station dog

SOMERVILLE, NJ (Somerset County) – Meet Norman, the newest and furriest member of the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) family.

Recently adopted from the Associated Humane Societies in Newark, Norman has taken up residence at the station and already made a big impression.

Named in honor of the NJSP’s first Superintendent, H. Norman Schwarzkopf, the station dog brings more than just charm to the job. Known for his calm demeanor and big personality, Norman has quickly won the hearts of troopers and staff alike.

Studies have shown that having dogs in the workplace can reduce stress and strengthen team bonds—and Norman is already proving to be a “pawsitive” influence.

“Welcome to the family, Norman!” the State Police said in a statement.
