Phillipsburg receives historic portrait for display at Roseberry House
PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — The Town of Phillipsburg has received a historic oil painting through a gift agreement with Warren County Cultural & Heritage Affairs, officials announced.
The artwork, titled “Portrait of a Seated Gentleman,” will be preserved and displayed in partnership with the Phillipsburg Area Historical Society at the Roseberry House.
Officials said the arrangement will ensure the piece remains part of the community’s history for future generations.
The town also recognized Shippen Manor, a historic site operated by Warren County Cultural & Heritage Affairs, for its role in preserving and interpreting regional history and helping facilitate the transfer of the artifact.
A special acknowledgment was given to Gina Rosseland of Shippen Manor for her support and coordination throughout the process.
Town officials also thanked the Phillipsburg Area Historical Society for its continued partnership in preserving local history, as well as Alex Ibarra and Rich Backes for their contributions in making the acquisition possible.
Officials said the addition of the portrait reflects ongoing efforts to celebrate and preserve Phillipsburg’s heritage.
