PHOTOS: Warren County moms pack holiday cheer for deployed troops

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The holiday season can be hard for those in the military and one organization in Warren County aims to support those currently serving.

The Blue Star Mothers of North Warren NJ-7, which is comprised of mothers of active duty service members and veterans, packed up over 75 care packages to send to service members overseas.

The organization first collected donations from businesses, schools, municipalities and individuals.

Then on Monday, members and volunteers filled the boxes with travel games, cards, cookies, hard candies, toiletries, sunscreen, things to remind them of home, and letters from school children.

“To say our hearts are full is an understatement. I don’t even know where to begin to thank everyone for all of the donations we received for our Holiday Packages for the Troops Drive,” said First Vice President of the Blue Star Mothers of North Warren Shannon Drylie. “To our residents, friends, families, businesses, American Legions, the schools from the North Warren Community, CACO Creations, the Town of Hackettstown, North Warren Interact Club Blairstown Ambulance Corps, The Tot Lot, and childhood friends thank you from the bottom of our hearts! There are going to be smiles all over the world from troops.”

The care packages will start being mailed this week.
