Police investigate attempted home burglary in Morris County
FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – Police are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred at a home in Florham Park Borough on Monday.
On June 10, at around 11:38 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call reporting an unknown need for police to respond to a home on Lincoln Avenue. When officers arrived, it was determined that an attempted burglary just occurred to an occupied residence and the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot, likely toward Briarwood Road, police said.
A perimeter was immediately established and the local elementary schools were put into a shelter-in-place due to the proximity of the crime to the school and the suspect being last seen on foot rather than in a fleeing vehicle, police said.
An extensive search of the home and surrounding areas was conducted by the Florham Park Police with the assistance of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, and their Emergency Services Unit Officers, Madison Police, and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management, police said.
The suspect was not located during the initial search and once police were confident there was no longer a threat to the area, police lifted the shelter-in-place, authorities said.
“We are thankful to the numerous residents who provided our Detectives and Officers with valuable witness information and we appreciate their cooperation as we roamed their yards and driveways,” police said.
Anyone that witnessed anything around that time or can provide additional surveillance footage, contact the Florham Park Borough Police Department at 973-377-2200.
