Popcorn for the People to headline Autism Acceptance Month event at Warren Hills High School

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Arc of Warren County and Abilities of Northwest Jersey will host a free community event featuring Popcorn for the People as part of Autism Acceptance Month.

The event is scheduled for April 16 at 6 p.m. in the Warren Hills High School auditorium, 41 Jackson Valley Road, Washington, and is sponsored by the Greenwich Autism Alliance Foundation. Organizers said the program is open to the public, with advance registration encouraged. Registration is available at arcwarren.org/register.

Popcorn for the People, a social enterprise focused on creating employment opportunities for adults with autism and developmental disabilities, will share its mission and experiences supporting a neurodiverse workforce. The organization was founded in 2014 and promotes fair wages, career advancement and workplace inclusion.

“I have seen Popcorn for the People present before and I am so pleased that to be able to sponsor this event with The Arc of Warren County and Abilities of Northwest Jersey and bring them to the Warren Hills community,” says Kelly Milazzo, President of The Greenwich Autism Alliance Foundation. “It is such a unique opportunity that you will not want to miss.”

Tiffany and John Welch of Popcorn for the People will speak about their work building employment pathways for individuals with disabilities.

The program will be emceed by MaryLouise Rowlin, director of special education at Warren Hills High School, with additional remarks from Milazzo, John Whitehead, CEO of The Arc of Warren County, and Cindy Wildermuth of Abilities of Northwest Jersey.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample popcorn and can choose to donate to the host organizations during registration. For more information, visit popcornforthepeople.com.
