RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Motorists should be prepared for lane closures on Route 10 westbound this weekend as New Jersey Natural Gas Company conducts utility work in Randolph Township.

The right lane on Route 10 westbound will be closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, to facilitate the installation of a gas main across the Canfield Avenue intersection.

During this time, access to Canfield Avenue/CR 513 from both Route 10 eastbound and westbound will also be closed and detoured. This closure will particularly affect individuals trying to reach the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) office and inspection station located on Canfield Avenue.

While the left lane on Route 10 westbound will remain open during construction, motorists are advised to follow these detours:

  • Take Dover Chester Road/CR 513 northbound (before Canfield Avenue).
  • Turn left onto Quaker Church Road, which becomes Randolph Avenue, and continue to Canfield Avenue/CR 669 northbound to reach the MVC.

For Route 10 westbound to Canfield Avenue/CR 669 southbound:

  • Turn left onto Dover Chester Road/CR 513 southbound (before Canfield Avenue).
  • Then, turn right onto Sussex Turnpike/CR 617.
  • Finally, turn right onto Canfield Avenue/CR 669 southbound.

For Route 10 eastbound to Canfield Avenue/CR 669 southbound:

  • Take the ramp to Sussex Turnpike/CR 617.
  • Then, turn left onto Canfield Avenue/CR 669 southbound.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information
