Route 22 eastbound ramp to I-78 westbound to close next week for paving in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, N.J. – The Route 22 eastbound ramp to Interstate 78 westbound is scheduled to be closed beginning Monday, August 4, as part of a major resurfacing and intersection improvement project spanning multiple Warren County municipalities.

According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the ramp closure will begin at 9 a.m. Monday and is expected to remain in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday, August 7. The work will also require a single-lane closure on the Route 22 eastbound ramp to I-78 eastbound during the same period. At least one lane will remain open.

The construction impacts roads in Phillipsburg, Lopatcong, Pohatcong, and Greenwich, and is part of a $10 million project to resurface approximately five miles of Route 22 eastbound from Miller Street in Phillipsburg to the I-78 interchange. The project also includes ramp resurfacing and traffic signal upgrades at seven intersections.

This work was originally scheduled to be completed on Friday, August 1, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Commercial vehicles carrying wide loads larger than 11 feet will be restricted and must follow posted detours.

Motorists are advised to use caution, expect delays, and check www.511nj.org for real-time traffic updates.

The schedule and construction timing remain subject to weather and other factors.
