Route 94 southbound to close and detour in Newton from Friday, 2/28 to Sunday, 3/2

Closure necessary to replace critical utility pole

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Route 94 southbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured from Friday, February 28, through Sunday, March 2, for emergency utility pole replacement in Newton.

This closure will affect traffic traveling to and from Newton Medical Center.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, and continuing until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, Route 94 southbound will be closed and detoured at the Route 206/High Street/Main Street interchange for the replacement of a critical utility pole by Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L).

Route 94 southbound Detour:

  • Motorists on Route 206 southbound/High Street wishing to continue onto Route 94 southbound/High Street will be directed to stay left for Route 206 southbound/Netcong/Sparta
  • Turn right onto Main Street/Route 206 southbound
  • Turn right onto Liberty Street, back to Route 94

Route 94 southbound truck Detour:

  • Trucks on Route 206 southbound/High Street wishing to continue onto Route 94 southbound/High Street will be directed to stay left for Route 206 southbound/Netcong/Sparta
  • Turn right onto Main Street/Route 206 southbound
  • Turn right onto Woodside Avenue/CR 621 to continue on Route 206 southbound
  • Turn right onto Fredon Springdale Road/CR 618, which becomes Willows Road, back to Route 94
