
Saint Thomas Aquinas teacher from Morris County charged with manufacturing child sexual abuse material
EDISON, N.J. (Middlesex County) — Axel Palomares, 50, of Morristown, a teacher at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Edison, was arrested and charged with manufacturing child sexual abuse material and other offenses, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan announced Tuesday.
Palomares is accused of creating and possessing the material following an investigation that began with a cyber tip received by the New Jersey State Police.
He was charged with second-degree manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, and fourth-degree invasion of privacy.
The investigation was led by Detective Ken McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Palomares was arrested without incident at his home on May 27, after authorities executed a search warrant at the residence. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility pending the outcome of a pre-trial detention hearing.
