Sharon McKew Michael, former Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce board member, dies at 68

Sharon McKew Michael, a past board member of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and longtime supporter of the local business community, died Feb. 19, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. She was 68.

Christopher J. Phelan, president of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, said Michael played a meaningful role in advancing the chamber’s mission.

“On behalf of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, we are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Past Board Member Sharon McKew Michael,” Phelan said.

Phelan said Michael was “an avid and dedicated supporter of the Chamber and its mission” and noted her strong support of the Chamber Foundation’s purchase and renovation of the historic Reading-Large House, now home to the Center for Business & Entrepreneurship.

“Her commitment to strengthening our business community and preserving its history leaves a lasting impact,” Phelan said.

Beyond her work with the chamber, Michael supported numerous organizations throughout Hunterdon County and was remembered for her generosity and enthusiasm, he said.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Michael family and all who knew and loved Sharon. Her legacy of kindness, service, and community spirit will not be forgotten,” Phelan said.

In lieu of flowers, Michael asked that acts of kindness be shared in her memory.

Born in Baltimore, Michael graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She spent most of her life in the Lehigh Valley, where she worked as a banker for more than 40 years. In recent years, she moved to Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, to be closer to her family.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.

Michael enjoyed crocheting, crafting and visiting New York City. She also liked hiking, gardening and reading, and treasured time with her grandchildren and family.

She was the daughter of the late Francis and Betty Mae McKew.

She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Greg Michael; her daughter, Leslie, engaged to Tim Kozlowski; her sisters, Deborah Kachmar, Mary Kay Keefe and Lynn Oakes; and her grandchildren, Warren James, Tatum Blaine and Hannah Mae.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, Pennsylvania. A funeral liturgy will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, Pennsylvania.
