Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office commemorates National Crime Victims’ Rights Week
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced the observation of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, in commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), April 23 – 29, 2023, is decorating all police cars in the county with magnets to raise awareness about crime victims’ issues and rights and introduce the community to the important resources and services available.
The magnets display this year’s theme – “Survivor Voices: Elevate, Engage, Effect Change.”

Every year, millions of Americans are affected by crime. Many will need ongoing care, support, and resources. April 23 – 29 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, a time to amplify the voices of survivors and commit to creating an environment where survivors have the confidence that they will be heard, believed, and supported.
“The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office is placing particular emphasis on undocumented residents who are victims of violence or witnesses to criminal acts. Every victim and witness, regardless of citizenship status, must know that there will never be any immigration consequences if you report a crime. Equal justice under the law does not depend on your place of birth,” McDonald said.
