Sussex County man sentenced for resisting arrest

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County was sentenced for resisting arrest, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Sean Marone, 22, of Stanhope Borough was sentenced on July 7 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.

Marone was sentenced to probation for a period of 2 years, a special condition of 15 days SLAP, submit a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations. He must also serve 25 hours of community service, submit to random urine monitoring, and pay fines and fees, Taggart said.

Marone pled guilty on May 10 to fourth-degree resisting arrest. In pleading guilty, he admitted to knowingly preventing a law enforcement officer from effecting an arrest by means of flight, after being given lawful order to stop in an attempt to prevent apprehension and or arrest, Taggart said.

Marone was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Sally Anne Monkemeier.
