Sussex County woman sentenced for selling LSD to undercover detectives

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was sentenced for selling LSD to an undercover detectives, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.

Dana Vail, 31, of Newton, was sentenced on December 13 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.

Vail was sentenced to three years in state prison with no jail credit. She must also submit a DNA sample and pay $2,185 in mandatory fees and penalties, Murray said.

Vail previously pled guilty to second-degree distribution of CDS (LSD), Murray said.

The charges stemmed from an investigation in January 2024 by the New Jersey State Police Strategic Investigations Unit. NJSP-SIU undercover detectives conducted two controlled purchases of approximately 10,000 milligrams of LSD from Vail, and during a subsequent search of her residence, police found additional quantities of LSD, Murray said.

Vail was represented by John C. Grey, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General/Acting Assistant Prosecutor Jerome Neidhardt.
