Three dogs killed, residents injured in Hunterdon County house fire, state police say

BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Sunday afternoon house fire in Bethlehem Township left three dogs dead and sent the residents to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded around 1:45 p.m. to a structure fire on Charleston Road, State Police spokesman Sgt. First Class Charles Marchan said.

When troopers arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames, Marchan said. The occupants had already made it out of the home. Three dogs died in the fire.

The residents sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional information was immediately available.
