
Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A traffic stop in Mount Olive Township led to the drug arrest of a Flanders man, according to police.
On January 11, at around 2:27 p.m., an officer on routine patrol observed a grey Toyota traveling on Main Street fail to maintain its lane, police said.
The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop as the Toyota turned onto Flanders Bartley Road. Upon contacting the driver, identified as James A. Frey Jr., 39, of Flanders, the officer noted that Frey appeared to be under the influence. Frey was asked to exit the vehicle for further questioning, police said.
During the investigation, with the assistance of Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Officer Marshall, Frey was found to be in possession of 12 capsules of Gabapentin, 14 capsules of Clonazepam, and 7 pills of Amphetamine, police said.
Frey was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of CDS (controlled dangerous substances), possession of CDS Schedule I-IV, possession of a prescription legend drug greater than five doses, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain lane, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance.
