Truck slams into NJ Transit train stopped at Dover station

DOVER, NJ (Morris County) – No injuries were reported after a truck slammed into a NJ Transit train that was stopped at the Dover station Wednesday afternoon.

At around 3:42 p.m., Morris Essex Line train 6656, which was scheduled to depart Dover at 3:45 p.m. and arrive in New York Penn Station at 5:06 p.m., was stationary as it was loading customers at the Dover station when it was struck by a motor vehicle at the South Morris Street grade crossing, according to NJ Transit.

There were no injuries reported to the approximately 65 customers or crew on board, or to the occupants of the motor vehicle, officials said.

Customers on the train were accommodated by the following train, authorities said.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation, NJ Transit said.
