Twelve apartments affected, residents displaced in 3-alarm fire in Morris County

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 3-alarm fire in Randolph Township early Saturday morning has left twelve apartments severely damaged, displacing residents and prompting a large emergency response from local fire departments.

At around 12:30 a.m., fire crews were alerted to a gas smell in an apartment at the Randolph Village apartment complex. Approximately five minutes later, a report came in about smoke and flames coming from an adjacent apartment in the same building, officials said.

The fire, caused significant damage to a substantial portion of the building’s left side. Twelve apartments were affected, displacing residents who are now being assisted by the Red Cross with temporary shelter, authorities said.

The Morris County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) deployed the Mobile Ambulance Bus in conjunction with the Randolph Rescue Squad to support fire and EMS operations. OEM also collaborated with Randolph Fire Command, the Randolph Police Department, and the Randolph Office of Emergency Management to open the Randolph Community Center as a warming center for affected residents, officials said.

OEM coordinated with the American Red Cross to provide assistance to those displaced by the fire, authorities said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
