
Warren County man arrested after months-long drug investigation; drugs and weapons seized
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A months-long investigation into the alleged distribution of narcotics in Phillipsburg has led to the arrest of a local man, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Tuesday, February 18, the Phillipsburg Police Department and the New Jersey State Police executed a search warrant at 166 Mercer Street. During the search, authorities recovered narcotics and weapons, authorities said.
Gabriel Martinez, 28, of Phillipsburg was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, second-degree possession of a firearm while in the course of committing, attempting to commit, or conspiring to manufacture, distribute, or dispense a controlled dangerous substance, fourth-degree possession of a defaced firearm, fourth-degree possession of hollow nose bullets, fourth-degree possession of large capacity magazines, third-degree receiving stolen property, specifically by possessing a stolen firearm, two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, and second-degree unlawful Possession of a Weapon, specifically a handgun, without first obtaining a permit.
Second degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, third degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 5 years in New Jersey State Prison, and fourth degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Phillipsburg Police Department and the New Jersey State Police.
