Man charged with open container in public after pouring liquor into soda bottle in Hackettstown, police say

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man was charged with having an open container in public after police allegedly observed him pouring liquor into a soda bottle outside a liquor store in Hackettstown.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:21 p.m., a Hackettstown police officer in an unmarked police car observed a male enter ShopRite Wines & Spirits, located at 80 Main Street, and then exit, police said.

After leaving the store, the man proceeded to his car, where he opened a 20 ounce bottle of Coca-Cola, poured some of it out, and then opened an airplane-sized bottle of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey, pouring it into the soda bottle. As the officer approached, the man was attempting to start his vehicle, police said.

The male was identified as Edgar A. Quinatoa-Solis, 66, of Independence Township. He was subsequently charged with possession of an open container of alcohol and released pending a court appearance, police said.
